“E hia ?”-how many, [not for people]

“E hia nga aporo? [how many apples are there?}

E whitu nga aporo? [7 apples.]

E hia nga tepu? [how many tables are there?] [if the number is more that 10 we drop the “e”]

Tekau ma tahi nga tepu? [11 tables]

E hia nga papama [how many whiteboard]

Kotahi te papama [1 whiteboard] [when there is only one, we use Kotahi te..]

 

Tokohia- how many people?

Tokohia nga tamariki? [how many children?]

Rua tekau ma iwa nga tamariki.

Tokohia nga kaiako ? [how many teachers?]

Tokorua nga kaiako. [2 teachers]
