Kia ora, today I am here with another blog post about the book “Button” which became popular during World War 1 and 2.
What have I learned so far?
I have learned that the school in Wellington was donating buttons to the school for fundraising for the people who were killed in the war, and also for the children who had lost their parent’s lives that year and never came back. The school has a website called {www.moriahbuttons.wikispaces.com} and the kids from Moriah School were collecting heaps and heaps of buttons that they had in their lives. They had to do this for 2 years. The 13- year old girl named, Liza said “We wanted to make sure that they didn’t be forgotten”. The name is called “The Button Project”.
In my next blog, I will talk about my work and what we are doing. Nga Mihi.
