Ramp it up {or down}

Hypothesis

My hypothesis is that the marble will go further because it has more rolling techniques and it also has more weight. That is my hypothesis.

Steps

Rolling each ball down, roll it three times and measure the distance between each ball and the end of the ramp using, my feet,a ruler,a tyrannosaurus rex tooth, chromebook, an anaconda skin.

Results

Roll Marble Ping Pong Ball
1 10 3
2 10 5
3 10 10
Average 10 6

Conclusion

The hypothesis was correct because the marble went further and went out the door.

Paper Plane

Hypothesis (What I think will happen)

I think that the small plane will fly further because the wings will make the wind.

Background

The first paper plane was made around 200 years ago.

The longest distance ever flown by a paper plane was 88.1 metres.

There are four forces that act on the paper plane when it is flying.

  • Thrust, how fast it is pushed
  • Lift, how much wing area can be pushed up
  • Gravity, pulls the plane down
  • Drag, slows the plane down

Equipment

  • A4 paper
  • A5 paper
  • Metre stick

Steps (Method)

Here’s a video of folding the paper planes.

Results (What we found out)

The big plane flew further. 2 times out of 3.

Conclusion

My hypothesis was incorrect because the wings on the big plane were not folded enough.
